How It Works
Simple Solar System
Anyone Can Build
A solar charging system for your e-bike has just 4 components. We supply all of them and show you exactly how to connect everything step by step.
━ Solar power flow
━ DC charging path
━ To e-bike battery
━ Optional AC path
Option A — Recommended
Direct DC Charging
Solar panel → MPPT controller → DC-DC converter → E-bike battery directly.
Most efficient — no energy lost to inverter. Charges faster. No AC outlet needed. Best for garage, shed, or balcony setups.

Option B — Easiest
AC Charging Method
Solar panel → MPPT controller → Battery bank → Inverter → Stock e-bike charger → E-bike.
Uses your existing charger. No modifications to the bike. Plug and play. Best for beginners.

Installation
Install in an Afternoon —
Step by Step
1
Mount the Solar Panel
Mount panel facing south at 30–45° angle for maximum Canadian sun exposure. Roof mount, ground frame, or balcony rail bracket — all work. Make sure no shadow falls on panel between 10am and 3pm.
☀️ In Ontario — face due south, tilt at your latitude angle (43° for Toronto)
2
Connect Panel to MPPT Controller
Run solar cable from panel to MPPT controller. Connect positive (red) and negative (black) to the PV input terminals on the controller. Controller auto-detects panel voltage. No settings needed.
3
Connect DC-DC Converter
Connect MPPT output to DC-DC converter input. Set converter output voltage to match your e-bike battery — 48V, 72V, 96V etc. Use the small dial or digital display on the converter to set exact voltage.
⚠️ Set voltage BEFORE connecting to e-bike battery — double check with multimeter
4
Install ANL Fuse
Install ANL fuse on the positive wire between converter output and e-bike battery. This protects your wiring if anything shorts. Never skip the fuse — use the correct rating for your kit.
5
Connect to E-Bike Battery
Connect converter output to your e-bike battery charging port — same port you use for your regular charger. Red to positive, black to negative. Verify polarity with multimeter before connecting.
6
Test and Monitor
Point panel at sun — MPPT controller display should show watts being generated. Your battery voltage should slowly rise. Download the MPPT app (Bluetooth models) to monitor charging from your phone.
✅ A 200W panel in good sun produces 10–15A into a 48V battery — you'll see it charging right away
